On March 4, seniors in the Elwood community were treated to a three-course meal at John H. Glenn High School followed by a performance of “The Wiz.”

The senior citizen dinner and show, coordinated by the community service club, was a huge success in bringing together community members of all ages and backgrounds. Students and extracurricular groups, including World language Honor Society members and Mrs. Fucci’s cooking classes, worked hard to present perfectly cooked meals for the event. Additionally, members of the school’s Spanish and Italian clubs baked an assortment of treats that were thoroughly enjoyed by guests. The school’s booster club and John H. Glenn High School student council members also contributed by donating the food and drinks as well as the decorations and paper goods needed for the annual event.

After their meals, the seniors were escorted into the high school auditorium to watch the high school production of “The Wiz,” featuring Daniella Jasuja as Dorothy, Danielle Gross as Glinda and Caitlin Rossi as The Wiz.

“A big thanks should be given to Mrs. Gellert, Mrs. Henson, Mrs. Huer and all others that made this night a success for our senior citizen community members,” Elena Jersey said. “This really became a community event in the building. Many came out to help serve and prep.”
