Thanks to the district’s PTA Council on Arts in Education and Cultural Arts, students of Harley Avenue Primary School and Elwood Middle School had the opportunity meet and listen to the presentations of two well-respected authors.
Josephine Nobisso, author of over 35 children’s books including
In English of Course,
The Numbers Dance and Mia in the Garden, shared her newest book
Hot Cha Cha with Harley Avenue students in grades K-2.
While Harley Avenue explored the rhythm of writing, eighth graders of the Elwood Middle School had the opportunity to hear Ruth Minsky Sender, author of
The Cage, describe firsthand her experiences of life in the ghettos of Nazi-occupied Poland and the work camps of Auschwitz.
