The event will commence at 4:30 p.m. with the presentation of a proclamation from Councilwoman Susan Berland, followed by an opening cheer by the John Glenn Cheerleaders. Several local businesses, as well as the NY Islanders, have donated activities, raffles and various items to make this event a success.
Elwood families are invited join in the fun. Students can watch district principals and teachers being dunked in the dunk booth, play kickball alongside the physical education teachers, and participate in many more events.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the life of MaryKate Szokoli, as well as to bring together the community she so loved. There will be a small entrance fee and raffle opportunities. The proceeds from this event will go to the college fund created for Szokoli’s two young daughters.
