The district congratulates sophomore Nina Koscica, who was named the first-place winner in the Long Island Language Teachers 2014 poster contest. To capture the contest’s theme of “Unmask Cultures: Be a Polyglot,” Nina drew a number of masks and books on her poster to convey the importance of learning foreign languages. Nina, who began studying Italian in the seventh grade, says that while she lost some sleep over creating her poster, she was honored to take first place in the contest. “This is the first time I’ve ever won anything, so I’m very happy,” she said.
