During the week of July 28, the Elwood Union Free School District hosted meet and greet sessions for parents, students and community members to meet the newly appointed principals at Harley Avenue Primary School and James H. Boyd Intermediate School.
At the informal meetings, parents learned about the principal’s professional experience and asked questions about the upcoming school year. Students attended the meetings happy to interact and meet their new principals prior to the beginning of the school year.
Harley Avenue’s new principal, Elissa Toubin, emphasized the importance of building relationships within the community. “Working in a small school district, I look forward to establishing relationships with all community members,” she said. “In doing so, we can work together to provide the best educational experience for students.” Denise Toscano, the new principal at James H. Boyd Intermediate School, informed parents that collaboration between teachers, parents and the principal is an essential element for the academic success of students. She said, “This is a partnership and I am always available for communication.”
