Two Elwood-John H. Glenn High School students were acknowledged for
their distinguished academic achievements. Kelsey Hackett and Bridget
Leighton were among 16,000 students across the nation named National
Merit Semifinalists in the 2015 Competition. Kelsey and Bridget placed
among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million entrants in the 2015
competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship
Qualifying Test. The two talented seniors will now have the opportunity
to continue in the competition for one of approximately 8,000 National
Merit Scholarships.
Along with their academic priorities, Bridget and Kelsey actively
participate in several after-school clubs and extracurricular activities
including Chamber Choir, Drama Club, Habitat/Environmental Club,
Mathletes, Science Research, Science Olympiads, Knowledge Masters and
tennis. Both students plan to continue their educational journey,
applying to numerous colleges that offer the academic focus they desire.
Bridget aspires to major in biology, working towards becoming a doctor.
Kelsey also plans to major in biology with a concentration in genetics.
