On March 4, students at Elwood Middle School had the opportunity to meet and hear a presentation from New York Times bestselling author Gordon Korman.

Delivering three 45-minute group presentations, Korman discussed how he wrote and published his first novel, “This Can’t Be Happening at MacDonald Hall,” at 14 years old. He also provided an in-depth look at the writing and publishing process, which includes brainstorming, developing characters, dialogue, rewriting and revision.

Following the last presentation, a select group of students who received special admission tickets gathered in the school’s library for a meet-the-author and book-signing session. During the session, Korman shared more about his experience as a writer, answered questions and autographed copies of his books.
