Ten seventh- and eighth-grade students at Elwood Middle School put their math skills to the test at the 2015 Suffolk County MoMathalon at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Presented by the National Museum of Mathematics, the MoMathalon provides students with the opportunity to compete against other schools in an engaging and challenging series of mathematical questions. Students compete individually and in groups with peers from different schools, as well as their own, to answer questions and identify alternate solutions to math equations.

While every student received a certificate of participation, awards were given to high scoring individuals and teams. Representing their school, Drew Kuroda placed second in the individual round and Peter Vouthas placed first in the mixed school team.

Congratulations to the following middle students for their success at the competition: Ivan Andrade, Mina Ban, Hannah Kleinman, Drew Kuroda, Yeji Lee, Hannah Louchan, Zain Siddiqui, Annie Song, Jeremy Tast and Peter Vouthas.
