Nicole Gendjoian, a Spanish teacher at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, was recently selected through the National Spanish Exam, a division of the American Association of Teaching Spanish and Portuguese, for a study abroad summer scholarship program in Spain.
To apply for the scholarship, Gendjoian was required to create a blog with photos of her teaching, a video explaining why she wants to study in Spain, and a post with her reaction to winning the scholarship. Gendjoian is among only four educators in the nation who were selected for the scholarship program.
While abroad, Gendjoian will complete six graduate credits at the Complutense University of Madrid. The scholarship will cover the cost of her tuition, room and board for the four-week program. Upon completing her college credits, Gendjoian plans to spend an additional two weeks in Spain to travel.
