At its business meeting on June 18, the Board of Education accepted a number of donations to the district’s schools. The Elwood Booster Club donated $2,305.19 to purchase folding chairs for the Elwood-John H. Glenn High School Athletic Department and made a donation of $1,250 for the Elwood Middle School Extra Classroom Fund. The Elwood Middle School PTA donated $1,250 to fund costs associated with the eighth-grade field trip to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty.

The district received a Target “Take Charge of Education” donation of $190.87 to fund cultural arts programs at James H. Boyd Intermediate School. Stop & Shop A+ Rewards contributed $237.69 to fund cultural arts programs at James H. Boyd Intermediate School and $725.94 to fund cultural arts at Harley Avenue Primary School. Astoria Bank/Huntington Arts Council contributed a grant of $50 to fund art materials and supplies in honor of artwork by a James H. Boyd Intermediate School student selected for “Best in Grade” at the Huntington Tulip Festival.

The Elwood Athletic Club donated $1,008.08 to fund buildings and ground related expenses Community Day.  The Harley Avenue Primary School PTA made a donation of $9,984.70 to fund cultural arts. The Harley Avenue Primary School PTA funded services from Anastasio’s Mason Supply to repair the broken kindergarten planter in front of Harley Avenue Primary School. The James H. Boyd Intermediate School PTA donated $11,442.11 to fund cultural arts.
