In an effort to strengthen the home-to-school connection, English as a New Language (ENL) teachers at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School hosted an ENL Family Night for students and their families at the Elwood Public Library.
To kick off the event, high school students, faculty and family members participated in a Human Bingo icebreaker activity. During their presentation, coordinators Janine Washinger and Kate Salamone shared information about the district, the ENL program, graduation requirements and testing accommodations. Additionally, students had the opportunity to apply for a library card and explore the various resources available to them at the library.
“We wanted to host this event to help build a sense of community and answer any questions the students and their parents have about the English as a New Language program,” said Salamone.
