Elwood-John H. Glenn High School senior Dareus Smith is bound for Long Island University Post this fall to continue his football career on a full scholarship as he works to obtain a degree in business. Family members, coaches and district administrators surrounded the talented Elwood Knights football player as he finalized his commitment during a National Letter of Intent ceremony at the high school.

Passionate for the sport, Smith dedicated six years to the Elwood football program, playing two years on the middle school team and four years on the varsity team. Given the title of captain in his senior year, Smith worked hard as a defensive and offensive tackle. During his athletic career, he has been named to the All-State, All-County and All-League teams.

In addition to his athletic accolades, he is attentive to his schoolwork and currently holding an 84 GPA. In his spare time, Smith volunteers with the Special Olympics New York.
