To celebrate Pi Day on March 14, Elwood Middle School hosted a “Pi Day Extravaganza.”
Through hands-on activities, students calculated and demonstrated the value of Pi within multiple learning styles. Coordinated by the middle school math teachers, students rotated to different stations where they used circular foods to determine the meaning of Pi and created a paper chain to understand the irrationality of Pi as well as used counters and chart paper to see the real life application of Pi in probability.
Thank you to all those involved in coordinating the day’s events and activities.
