In conjunction with their study unit on earthquakes, second-grade students at Harley Avenue Primary School worked in pairs to construct a building out of toothpicks and marshmallows for a science experiment.

Science teacher assistant Christine Messina created a shake table from cardboard and ping pong balls. Each building was put to the test to see if it could withstand the earthquake simulation.
