For the first time in over a decade, members of the Elwood-John H. Glenn High School Mock Trial team, under the advisement of Megan Gieser, earned a spot to compete in the regional competition held at the U.S. District Court in Central Islip.

The regional competition features the top 16 schools performing in the presence of a District Court Judge. In recognition of their excellent performance, the District Court Judge noted the Elwood students for their merits. The team finished in the preliminary round with a successful record.

“Our team aimed beyond what was expected and persevered towards excellence,” said Gieser. “I am so very proud of each team member.”

Due to their successful season, the team was invited to the annual Civil Law Mock Trial Competition held at Northport High School on April 15. The event is hosted in partnership with the Law, Youth and Citizenship Program of the New York State Bar Association. At this elite competition, volunteer judges and practicing attorneys will preside over trials, score competitors and afford feedback to students.

The district congratulates the Mock Trial team on their successful season.
