Fitted in Santa hats and Holiday sweaters, students from Harley Avenue Primary School and James H. Boyd Intermediate School toured the halls of John H. Glenn High School on Dec. 19 to view dozens of doors decorated in wrapping paper, tinsel and garland.

The high school’s door decorating contest began last year to continue to promote a positive culture; however, this year administrators decided to expand the initiative to include the district’s elementary school students, offering them a glimpse of life at the high school.

“You’ll all be here before you know it,” Principal Carisa Burzynski said.

This year’s door decorating theme was “Holidays Around the World,” celebrating the district’s motto: ‘All Are Welcome,” which was introduced during Superintendent’s Conference Day in September.

Those who participated were asked to contribute $2 and a non-perishable food item which were then donated to a local food pantry for the holidays.
To conclude the festivities, the elementary school students enjoyed a brief holiday concert from the jazz band, orchestra and acapella group.
