Congratulations to John H. Glenn High School sophomores Abby Rothleder and Max Slesinski, who were recently inducted into Huntington Youth Court – a town-run program where youth court members hear cases of youth offenders who have committed their first misdemeanor crime in a trial setting. Members enrolled in the program perform the roles of prosecuting and defense attorneys, judges, bailiffs and jury members.
Abby and Max recently completed a month of training, learning how the program is run and then demonstrated those skills as they served as members of the jury. Abby has also served as a defense and a prosecuting attorney due to her experience on the school’s mock trial team, writing opening and closing arguments.
Both students said that they cannot wait to continue the program throughout their high school career, according to their teacher, Megan Gieser. “We are so happy that Ms. Gieser introduced us to the law field,” they said.
