High school seniors strutted across the auditorium stage at John H. Glenn High school, showcasing their best date, formal and beach wear as part of the annual Mr. Glenn talent show on Jan. 10.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bossert said that the pageant is one of the most well attended events of the year and, according to world language teacher Nicole Gendjoian, it has become Elwood tradition.

Participating seniors – Aidan Desmond Andres Mady-Aguiar, Carsten Staehlin, Coby Eugene, Eddie Donnellan, Felipe Gonzalez, Joe DeVerteuil, Jordan Orlando, Justin Vega, Martin Kelly, Nick Aufiero and Ryan Dunn – showcased their personality through musical performances and comedy skits, which were met with thunderous applause from the audience.

Each contestant at this year’s show had to show off their best date, formal and beach wear, as well as perform a talent or comedy skit to be considered for the title. Justin, Cartsen and Nick paid tribute to The Beatles, whereas Eddie created a comedy skit video as a John H. Glenn security guard.

As the seniors appeared on stage, a small group of teacher judges ranked the students on their performances and, at the end of the show, awarded titles to each of them based on category. Senior Eddie Donnellan was crowned Mr. Glenn 2020.

Ms. Gendjoian, who has directed the show for the past two years, said that the competition serves as a fundraiser for the senior class.

“These boys are a team. It honestly didn’t even feel like a competition until the night of because they were having so much fun at rehearsals,” she said. “Many of them included each other in their walkouts or skits. I’m so proud of the incredible show they put on.”
