Julie Bilello was appointed as Assistant Principal at Elwood Middle School, replacing Dawn Valle, the district’s new Director of Math, Science, Technology and Federal Grants K-12.

Bilello has worked as a special education teacher for the past 16 years, most recently at Elwood Middle School, and previously in the Lynbrook School District and Plainview Old-Bethpage School District. During her career, she has taught every grade from first to eighth in various settings such as resource room, integrated co-teaching and special class.

A Deer Park resident, Bilello earned an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Farmingdale State College, her bachelor’s degree in Child Study from St. Joseph’s College, a master’s degree in Education/Literacy from Long Island University and a post-master’s advanced graduate certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.

“I am honored to be taking on the role of Assistant Principal at Elwood Middle School,” Bilello said. “I am excited to continue working closely with this wonderful community, as well as the faculty and staff, in order to foster strong relationships and create an environment where every student will find success. My goal is to ensure that all students feel connected, valued and cared for during their time at EMS. I look forward to partnering with the Principal, Dr. Christina Moran, to provide the best middle school experience possible for our students.”
