Five terrific Elwood-John H. Glenn High School senior athletes signed national letters of intent on May 25 to continue their playing careers in college.

Gabby Andreacchi will attend St. Joseph’s University in Brooklyn, playing basketball; Shannon McGrath will attend Union College in Schenectady, playing volleyball; Shayna Purow will attend Colby College in Waterville, Maine, playing volleyball; Anthony Schieble will attend DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, playing baseball; and Christian Szokoli will attend Hartwick College in Oneonta, playing football.

Held in the school’s gymnasium, the event was hosted by Athletic Director David Shanahan and attended by family members, who applauded with pride as each student was introduced.

“Your four-year careers here have been excellent, and being recruited to play in college is outstanding,” Shanahan told the students.

“Thanks to our student-athletes for being role models and performing to the best of their abilities within the classroom and on the field,” Principal Carisa Burzynski said.
