For his Eagle Scout project, John Glenn High School senior Jake Lauto recently built sustainable benches in Elwood Park as a tribute to his grandfather, Joseph Lauto, who often walked in the park. The benches will serve as wonderful resting spots for senior citizens, people with disabilities and pregnant women.

Lauto was invited to Huntington Town Hall, where he was recognized by Councilman Sal Ferro, Town Supervisor Ed Smyth and other town officials. His Eagle Scout ceremony will be held on Aug. 21.
