In honor of Board Recognition Week, Elwood Board of Education members were treated to a performance by John H. Glenn High School Chamber Orchestra at their meeting on Oct 18.
Under the direction of Karen Gellert, the ensemble kicked off the meeting with a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Immediately following the group’s performance, the board members were gifted black polo shirts with the words “Elwood Knights” embroidered above the pockets. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bossert extended a bout of gratitude to each of the district’s board members, thanking them for their continued dedication to the school community.
The board then reciprocated those remarks to honor 11 outstanding John H. Glenn High School faculty members as “Noble Knights.” Recipients included Susan Campo, Nicole Correia, Shannon Flores, Ilene Fucci, Nicole Gendjoian, Samantha Heuer, Tracy Ott, Joseph Pushee, Joanna Sepp, Diane Warren and Kristen Wertz. Each were nominated by a fellow colleague and received a certificate on behalf of Principal Carisa Burzynski, Dr. Bossert and the board of education.
