The Elwood School District honored the careers of three remarkable individuals – Carol Dano, the late Joe Pace and Patricia Biscardi – by inducting them into the Elwood Wall of Fame. The Class of 2022 induction ceremony was held during the district’s homecoming day of celebration on Oct. 15 at the Elwood Middle School auditorium, with their proud families in attendance.

Established in 2018, Elwood’s Wall of Fame serves to recognize individuals who have made impactful contributions to the school community.

Mrs. Biscardi served for nearly 30 years as a paraprofessional at Elwood Middle School. Affectionately known as “Grandma” to generations of students and staff after her second granddaughter attended the school, she supervised students in the cafeteria, chaperoned school functions, monitored students in the library and served as a bus matron.

Mrs. Dano served Elwood for 21 years as a family and consumer science teacher and community volunteer. She led the Student Community Service Club, organizing a Thanksgiving dinner and dinner theater for the community’s senior citizens for over 20 years. She also served as a class adviser, Head Start contributor and PTA member. A district resident for 43 years and parent to three Elwood graduates, she continued to assist students as a substitute teacher, chaperone and homecoming chairperson after her 2007 retirement.

Mr. Pace, who passed away on July 23 after a courageous battle against cancer, began his Elwood career in 2000, serving 22 years as a fifth-grade teacher and AIS math specialist at James H. Boyd Intermediate School. He also coached the Elwood-John H. Glenn High School varsity boys golf team, leading them to the 2021 league championship, and played drums for Boyd’s The Coconutz band.
