Superintendent Search

Due to the retirement of Mr. Peter Scordo, the Elwood Board of Education has begun its search for its new superintendent. On September 10, 2015, the Elwood Board of Education voted to enlist Western Suffolk BOCES to facilitate the search process. Western Suffolk BOCES is very experienced and has a history of success. Western Suffolk BOCES also provides this service for no additional cost.

Community and staff members are being asked and encouraged to provide their input through an online survey through November 9, 2015. Areas such as rating the importance of a potential candidate’s qualifications and personal characteristics, as well as his/her abilities and experience with school staffing, instruction, board relations, district operations and finance will be polled. The survey can be accessed by clicking on the link listed below. You may also get a paper copy of the survey at the district office or the Elwood Public Library.

Representatives from a variety of district and community stakeholder groups will also have an opportunity to meet individually with the search facilitators in November 2015 to provide additional input. An informational meeting will be held on Nov. 12 at 7 pm in the Elwood Middle School auditorium. The Board of Education will greatly value and consider the stakeholder input and community survey results in their selection of the new superintendent. Recruitment efforts will be extensive, and will conclude by April 2016.Thank you for your participation.
