A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Community Members,
As we transition into the second half of the school year, it gives us great pride to reflect on the past several months and witness the sense of normalcy that’s been restored to our buildings following the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading up to the holiday season, our schools held several activities and celebrations to promote a sense of camaraderie among our students and staff. It was also great to see so many community residents at our winter concerts and sporting events without the strict health and safety protocols that were mandated in the past.
In the near future, we look forward to the middle school production of “Newsies” in mid-February and the high school production of “Little Shop of Horrors” in late March. We thank our staff members who devote their time to making our school productions such a wonderful experience for not only our student-actors and their families, but for the entire Elwood community!
We also extend our appreciation to the 44 new administrative, faculty and staff members who have recently joined the Elwood family for the 2022-23 school year. We are proud of the exemplary work that they’ve been doing both inside and outside of the classroom and look forward to their future contributions.
Finally, as you know, during this time of year, the district is actively working to prepare the proposed budget for the 2023-24 school year. The proposed budget, which will be presented to voters on Tuesday, May 16, will be developed over the next several months through a series of public budget workshops. These dates can be found on page 4 of this newsletter, and all information related to the budget process is posted on the district’s website. We encourage residents to participate in this process and look forward to your feedback and input.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support of the Elwood School District!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kenneth Bossert
Superintendent of Schools
