Students at Boyd were visited on Sept. 28 by Ron Gelardi, an environmental educator from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Gelardi ran a water cycle lab for Boyd’s fourth and fifth graders as part of the Incredible Journey project through an international program called Project WET, which works to help create a water-literate world.

“Project WET is designed to help educators learn how to teach parts of the abiotic factors of nature, whether it’s ocean systems or sewage treatment plants, and being able to relate that to kids,” Gelardi said. “What we’ve done is expanded this Incredible Journey activity into a broader lesson about the water cycle.”
