Mia Cruz, an incoming Elwood-John H. Glenn High School freshman, traveled to Albany from Aug. 9-11 to rehearse and perform with the New York American Choral Directors Association Summer Middle School Honors Choir at Siena College. The choir, conducted by Baylor School Director of Choral Music Vincent Oaks, featured 51 selected students from grades 6-8. They also shared a Zoom session with a composer of one of their pieces.
A longtime chorus student at Elwood, Cruz notably performed at Carnegie Hall earlier this year with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra.
“This is a privilege well earned by Mia, to have been chosen to participate in this NY-ACDA choir along with other talented students across the state,” teacher Rachel Nagle said. “She is a pleasure to work with, and we are so proud of her accomplishments.”
