Peter Bell, a first-grader at Harley Avenue Primary School, had the opportunity to fill the principal’s shoes for the entire school day on May 14.

As part of a fundraiser for the Elwood Education Endowment, Bell won the chance to shadow Principal Elissa Toubin and assist with a variety of duties. Bell read “Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes” by Eric Litwin to classes, assisted with the morning and afternoon announcements, participated in a phone conference with Superintendent of Schools Peter Scordo and James H. Boyd Intermediate School Principal Denise Toscano, and even oversaw the rehearsal for the kindergarten celebration, which took place the following day.
