In Newsweek’s 2015 ranking of the Top Public High Schools in America, Elwood-John H. Glenn High School in the Elwood Union Free School District ranked No. 11 among 21 high schools listed from Long Island and No. 376 nationwide.

According to Newsweek, the ranking evaluates schools on a broad range of criteria to identify high schools that excel at preparing students for college and overcome the obstacles posed by socioeconomic inequality. The rankings were compiled using several metrics, including graduation rate, college enrollment rate, SAT and ACT scores, AP and IB scores and participation, teacher-student ratio and dropout rates.

“Our district has a strong commitment to providing students with a well-rounded and vigorous educational program that fosters a variety of learning opportunities and interests,” said Superintendent of Schools Peter Scordo.
