Students and faculty at James H. Boyd Intermediate School celebrated International Dot Day on Sept. 17. Inspired by the children’s book “The Dot” written by Peter H. Reynolds, International Dot Day is a global initiative that aims to promote creativity, collaboration and courage among young learners.
Dressed in polka dot clothing and dot stickers, students and faculty members participated in an International Dot Day assembly led by Principal Dr. Denise Toscano. During the schoolwide event, students listened to an audio reading of “The Dot” on a projector screen and received sage words of advice from Dr. Toscano. Following the theme of the book, students and faculty harmoniously sang and waved their arms to the song “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly. After the assembly, the celebration continued in the classrooms with thematic lessons and activities.
“Make your mark,” Dr. Toscano told students. “You can all do it if you work really hard and know that we believe in you.”
