Elwood-John H. Glenn High School students Natalia Mata, Sabrina Rivera and Kimberly Reyes are working as nursing interns at Huntington Hospital this year. Thanks to the hard work of career exploration teacher Ilene Fucci, these three students have been afforded the opportunity to work alongside nurses and doctors at the hospital, spending their mornings learning the intricacies of nursing and experiencing a true “day in the life” of a medical professional. They have been stationed in the emergency room and wound care unit, and even experienced a baby delivery.

“Our students are having an incredible experience so far and look forward to continuing to learn more about what it means to be a nurse and give back to the community,” Assistant Principal Trish Sihksnel said. “We are so proud of them. Thank you again to Ms. Fucci and Huntington Hospital for their continued partnership to provide our students with this incredible opportunity.”
