Michael Baio has been appointed as an interim assistant principal at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, effective Sept. 19, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Baio will be filling a vacancy caused by the promotion of Corey McNamara from assistant principal to principal of John H. Glenn High School. His effective date will allow for crossover time with the school’s retiring assistant principal Leroy Cole, to ensure a smooth personnel transition.

Baio has 35 years of experience in public education. He recently retired after serving as assistant principal of Sayville High School for the past 12 years, where his expertise in curriculum, master scheduling and supporting students helped the school to obtain Blue Ribbon status in 2018. He previously worked as a school counselor at Sayville High School, and a school counselor and business education teacher at Garden City High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in management and his master’s degree in secondary education from Hofstra University, and his post-master’s certificate in school district administration from Stony Brook University.
