Continuing her volunteer work in pursuit of a Girl Scouts Gold Award, Elwood-John H. Glenn High School junior Emma Rothleder delivered an amazing amount of food to the district’s food pantry for the second consecutive year. Rothleder organized another food drive that collected quite a bounty. This year, it took two carloads to bring all of the donated food.
“We are so thankful for her efforts,” math teacher Christina Kerensky-DeSimone said. “Emma has gone over and above what we had planned and expected. Because of her donation, we will have plenty of food for our families in need for July and August. The summer deliveries are larger than normal because the students do not receive free lunch and breakfast in the building, so we try to supplement with more food in those deliveries.”
