John Glenn High School’s talented and hardworking students were recognized at the Elwood School District Board of Education’s April 7 meeting, led by Dr. Kenneth Bossert, the district’s superintendent.

First up was a major announcement, introducing valedictorian Anson Kwan and salutatorian Trinity Hausch.

“Back in October, we recognized both of these students for achieving status as National Merit Semifinalists,” Principal Carisa Burzynski said. “We invited them back to join us this evening so we can officially commend them for earning the prestigious accomplishment of salutatorian and valedictorian, respectively.”

Next, the members of the John Glenn mock trial team – Matthew Charlotin, Sarah Collins, Gianna Cook, Logan Demianczyk, Evan Faraci, Sean Faraci, Isabella Marino, Grace Motta, Genaveva Musgrove, Mason Navon, Abigail Rothleder, Kaitlyn Schieble, Max Slesinski, Arianna Vouthas and Victoria Weissberg – and mock trial advisers Megan Gieser, Anthony Marino and Marsha McLeod were honored for the team earning a spot in the prestigious Elite Eight.

“Our mock trial students are some of the most dedicated and impassioned students we have at John Glenn High School,” Mrs. Burzynski said. “Their commitment to their team is unrelenting, and as a result, they made it to the Elite Eight this year. Their success is no doubt a direct result of their hard work, but is also a result of exemplary mentoring and guidance.”
