For the sixth year in a row, Elwood-John H. Glenn High School has been recognized as a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction. Only 86 schools statewide earned this prestigious NYSPHSAA award in 2021-2022.

The purpose of the award is to inspire varsity coaches to challenge their teams to achieve a statewide academic honor. To earn School of Distinction recognition, 100% of a school’s varsity teams must qualify for and receive the Scholar-Athlete team award. School of Distinction winners will be presented with a certificate and a commemorative award at their local athletic director workshop this fall.

“Each and every member of the Elwood educational family has played a role in the development of our student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom,” Athletic Director Dave Shanahan said. “Therefore, this prestigious award is certainly a team effort.”
