A little rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of Elwood’s staff and students returning to classes on Sept. 6. At each building – Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, Elwood Middle School, James H. Boyd Intermediate School and Harley Avenue Primary School – the promise of a new school year brought smiles and excitement.

“The start of the school year went well,” outgoing High School Principal Carisa Burzynski said. “Our students and staff returned with a palpable sense of enthusiasm and the JGHS team is looking forward to an amazing year.”

“Despite the dreary weather, our first day was filled with vibrant learning opportunities that included relationship building, ice breakers, course overviews and a number of other collaborative activities,” new High School Principal Corey McNamara said. “Our faculty and staff were excited to welcome back our students as we start the new school year and begin preparing our students for being future ready.”
