The superb scope of student talents was on full display at Elwood’s annual Festival of the Arts, held April 19 at the Elwood-John H. Glenn High School Performing Arts Center. Alongside a lavish art exhibit of work by John Glenn students, curated by teachers Amy Lindenbaum and Michael Marino, the evening featured a spectacular concert featuring the honors orchestra, directed by Emily Dana and performing selections from “Spirited Away” and “Princess Mononoke”; a step performance by senior Lianna Ramirez; the Acappelwood ensemble, directed by Brittany Wheeler, performing a celestial-themed set consisting of Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon” and Kimberly Rew’s “Walking on Sunshine”; and Knight Jazz, directed by Gabrielle Caviglia, performing “Little Sunflower,” “Shadows on the Street” and “Carnival del Soul.”

“I would like to extend our appreciation to our distinguished members of the Board of Education, along with Dr. Bossert and district administration for their continuous support of all programming here at John Glenn High School,” Principal Corey McNamara said. “I would also like to recognize the hard work and dedication of Miss Caviglia, Miss Dana and Miss Wheeler for their time and efforts in working with the students in preparation for this evening's performance. Lastly, I would like to acknowledge and highlight the hard work, dedication and incredible talent of our students who have been busy practicing.”
