A Safety Forum was held by the Suffolk County Police Department at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School on April 25, at Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Bossert’s request, focused on NARCAN training for the community and the growing opioid crisis in the region. Visiting officers explained about the different kinds of opioids and opiates, the deadly transition from heroin to fentanyl, emoji drug codes used by teens, the lifesaving use of NARCAN and Operation Medicine Cabinet to safely dispose of expired prescription drugs. Each Safety Forum attendee received a free emergency NARCAN kit.
“We are appreciative of the partnership with the Suffolk County Police Department, and we are very thankful to them for bringing this service to our community,” Dr. Bossert said.
